Design direction under hackathon pressure. A four-person hackathon project that used interactive storytelling to help high school students build practical skills for university, including budgeting, time management, self-care, and decision-making.

The setup

Many high school students feel unprepared for university, especially when it comes to budgeting, time management, self-care, and building new connections.

The move

Our team created an interactive choose-your-own-adventure game that guides students through realistic university scenarios. I helped design the user experience in Figma and worked with the team through Discord to organize ideas, divide responsibilities, and meet our deadline.

Note 1Designed during the Black Wings Hackathon in collaboration with a four-person remote team. My contribution focused on UX design, scenario development, and translating complex university challenges into an accessible Figma prototype.

I produced the project’s direction graphics alongside it, so the pitch deck, the interface, and the repository README all spoke one language by demo time.

The takeaway

The project showed me how thoughtful design and teamwork can make complex information more engaging and accessible for students
